Greetings from downtown Morgantown!
My name is Alex Shook and I’m an attorney at the law firm of Hamstead, Williams & Shook. Originally from Moundsville, W.Va., I came to Morgantown in 1987 to go to college at WVU and fell in love with the city. I’ve watched it grow from a small, sleepy college town to a burgeoning small metropolis that’s ranked as one of the nation’s number one small cities to do business, raise a family, and start a career.
In my opinion, Morgantown has become the heartbeat of West Virginia.
I started working with Jacques Williams as an intern in 1994 after my first year of law school and have continued with him since then. We created our own firm in 2003, and I have learned much from him over the years.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned from Jacques is the importance of being active in our community. Our firm seeks to help people in our community not only through the practice of law, but also through philanthropy. We have worked to achieve this goal by sponsoring scholarships and founding the Buckle Up Your Baby For Life car seat program.
I became a lawyer because I have a passion for helping people and for justice. People come to lawyers when they need help the most. Whether this help comes through maximizing their recovery in personal injury cases, bringing wrongdoers to justice, or through philanthropy, I am thankful that our firm gives me the exact platform I need in order to help people.
Hamstead, Williams & Shook has the passion, skills, resources and experience to meet our clients’ and community’s needs, and I am glad to be a part of it.
